About the Event

What is the difference between a trident spoon and a Japanese bar spoon?

What is the difference between a Vodka + Cranberry juice cocktail and a Cape Cod?

What bar shaker is the best one?

These are all common questions when you enter the world of bartending. We are here to answer these questions while learning some fantastic bartending skills!

Bar Basics is a five-part course that takes place over five to six weeks. This course will dive into the techniques, lingo, cocktail knowledge, and much more you cannot get from watching episodes of Bar Rescue. We aim to empower you whether you are a bartending connoisseur or just entering the industry.

  • Over five parts we will cover:
  • Deep dive knowledge of the BIG 5 (Whisk(e)y, Rum, Tequila, Vodka, and Gin)
  • Pairing liqueurs, cordials, mixers
  • Making syrups
  • Bitters and tinctures
  • Understanding tasting and nosing profiles
  • Different bar tools for different drinks and their proper use
  • Common and uncommon garnish and styling techniques
  • Hands-on craft and classic cocktail making
  • And more

FAQS

Do I have to attend every part of the course?

It is not required to attend every part. Each part will inevitably tie into the next. To receive the certificate of completion, attendance and participation in every part are required.

What if I don't drink? Can I still participate?

There is no requirement to drink to participate. That being said, if you are unable to sample the spirits to determine taste profiles for how to pair and mix properly, this course may not be worth it for you.
